My kids came over Friday night though it was not our regular weekend. Went down to Forsyth Park for SCAD's sidewalk arts festival. What a crowd.


Always is and I shoulda known better. Me thinks next time we'll go later in the evening..or even the next day(if it doesn't rain, of course). Still, we had a good time. Played frisbee.
I think they said there were over 700 entries? A whole heck of a lot that's for sure.
I recognized the house in one of the drawings. It's just across the street from the park and one of my faves. It has wisteria growing on the porch, though, I always seem to miss the blooming season. The artist won first place in the prospective students category!

No stitching on Rapunzel at all on Saturday but did a little today.

How do they know that a planet trillions of miles away may be capable of sustaining life?

Tried my hand at two handed stitching tonight. Hmmm...guess that should say 'tried my handS'. It does seem to go faster. Thought I would need a special lap frame or something but seems my belly makes for good support. I do need to remember to stretch out my arms every now and then.

This is my work so far on Rapunzel from the Oct 2006 issue of The World of Cross Stitching magazine. Doing it for my daughter. Changed the hair to brown and I'm thinking of adding silver thread to the crown. And I had another bright idea this morning. Rachel probably won't have a place to hang it if I frame it, so I'm thinking of attaching it to the front of a photo album/scrapbook.

My sis says she never expected my son to look so sad standing next to a half naked woman. I think it's because his sister is in the pic too.
We'd gone downtown to check out First Saturday on River Street and stopped on Broughton for SCAD's International Festival. Kinda like a block party with entertainment and food and crafts for sale. Got there just in time for the belly dancers.
We did go down on River St but didn't check out the crafts and stuff. We were hungry and freezing and wound up back on Broughton at Loco's.
Rachel saw a couple of ladies loaded down with shopping bags. She said that's what she wants us to do. Go shopping like that. Gonna have to find me a rich man or win the lottery for that much shopping to take place. She wanted to stop in some of the stores but naturally Ryan didn't want to and made his impatience known. Next time she visits by herself we'll go back downtown. To window shop.

basket case

Free kit that came with issue 184 of Cross Stitcher mag. Just so adorable! But....I'm not too happy with yellow card. Kinda rough around the edges. Could frame the pieces like they show in the mag but, while browsing other blogs, I saw where someone made a needle holder with a cute little bunny on it. This might be just the right size.
Btw, this was the first piece I've done from one of the UK mags. I guess it was over a year ago that I discovered those magazines at the B&N in the mall. There's been something I wanted to stitch in every issue, but I never bought one coz they are a bit costly....$10!! Plus, the itch to stitch wasn't as great as it's been lately.
I did buy a few issues via ebay a couple of months ago. Oh, boy, that was expensive. The issues and p&h were a great deal. It was my darn bank that stuck it to me. Seems they don't post wkend withdrawals until Monday. It would have been fine if they did everything in the order I made the transactions but, no, they started with the last one...the big withdrawal from the atm. That threw everything else into the overdraft...at $30 a pop. Won't make that mistake again.

cross stitch fever

It's been my thing for over a month now. Stitching almost every day. At home and at work(lunch hour....eat quickly=more time to stitch). Haven't been reading or other crafts. Haven't even been online much. Taking a stitch break right now as my 'need' for chocolate was overwhelming. Of course, if I hadn't bought the choc in the first place....

Surprised I could still log on as it's been mucho long time since I've been on this site. Another site has purged me for being such a slacker. I tried to start a new account but all versions of my name were in use/reserved. Then, when I finally picked something original, I was informed that this computer has been used in the past to gain an underage account. WTF? Who? Certainly not my kids. To continue with an account, I'd have to do that credit card age verification thing or some such crap. Forget that.
